ABOUT EoE

What is Eosinophilic Esophagitis?

Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the esophagus (the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach). It occurs when an inappropriate immune reaction to food causes a type of white blood cell, the eosinophil, to increase in the esophagus. The elevated number of eosinophils cause injury to the esophagus resulting in inflammation. This damage may make eating difficult or uncomfortable, and create other medical issues.

Testimonials from our patients and parents

“We are beyond grateful to Dr. Franciosi for getting the Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE) started here. My son has had 17 regular endoscopies and it is always such a long and hard process. The TNE procedure was so fast and simple! No more long hospital visits or waiting for anesthesia to wear off. I can't recommend the TNE enough!”

"I really liked having the TNE done. I hate having to stay at the hospital for such a long time on scope days. I was happy to not have to deal with the anesthesia either. It felt a little weird at first when they numbed my nose and put the tube down but it wasn't bad at all. I got to watch a movie and the procedure didn't feel bad at all!"
